Leonardo Da Vinci Details

Immaculate. 1966 RE-EDITED EDITION INTO SINGLE VOLUME WITH BRAND NEW ILLUSTRATION PLATES. Quality of the illustrations is greatly improved over the original edition, particularly the full color paintings. Heavy (10 lbs) 12' x 15" book; 518pp plus index. Bright color pictorial dust jacket. Book is bright, tightly bound and clean with no markings. Dust jacket has a bit of chipping at the head of spine, a very short tear on the lower back and a small chipping curl at back top. All else is immaculate. From the Dust Jacket: "This volume is the most complete and authoritative work ever published on Leonardo. It was originally published in Italy by the Istituto Geografico De Agostini just before the war, in conjunction with the famous exhibition of Leonardo's work in Milan in 1938. Recently Emil Vollmer, the German publisher, joined with the Istituto and re-edited the volume, making entirely new illustration plates from which this edition is printed. The quality throughout is greatly improved over the original edition, particularly in respect to the colour reproductions, which are of unusual faithfulness and beauty. This work reproduces in full color the major paintings, all of the drawings of consequence and, in addition, shows the various schools that he influenced throughout Europe." Read more
